WFTO Pacific is a network of members representing Fair Trade organisations, Fair Trade networks, support organisations and individuals. We represent 100% Fair Trade Organisations based in Canada, Australia, Japan, United States, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.
We work to change the lives of hundreds of thousands of small farmers and artisans in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Pacific through an alternative way of doing business- a fairer way.
Using international fair trade standards, which guide our work and decision making, we focus on bringing change through forming long term partnerships and sustainable trading relationships using a combination of direct trading, capacity building, campaigning and education.
The biggest campaign undertaken annually is World Fair Trade Day. World Fair Trade Day has grown into a global festival of Fair Trade with events organized worldwide, on and around the second Saturday of May by members of the World Fair Trade Organization across 70 countries. Events have included Fair Trade breakfasts, talks, markets, live performances, fashion shows, carnivals, festivals, processions and protests, to drive Fair Trade and campaign for justice in trade and promote sustainable social and environmental policy. 100% Fair Trade Organizations and the products and produce of marginalized communities are showcased on the day.
Individual members carry out advocacy within their own countries. They speak out in support of Fair Trade and trade justice with the aim to improve trading conditions for the benefit of small and marginalised producers in developing countries.
Together with Fairtrade Labelling Organizations International (FLO) and the European Fair Trade Association (EFTA), WFTO operates a joint advocacy office to influence European and global politics and increase the awareness of Fair Trade among key decision makers.
